The #1 search query bringing people to the blog these days is hexagon floor tile, and they are brought in via this post. I didn't even think it was that informative of a post....but somehow the search gods deemed it so :)
The master bath ended up with an alternative to the little hex floor tiles that I so coveted.
The
tile was bought at a big box store for $1.98/sq ft. - a compromise
considering I really wanted little hexagon tiles, but couldn't justify
the $12.03/sq ft they were asking.
I believe the tile was bought at home dep0t.
Let me tell you a little from what I learned.
This tile is a steal, price-wise, but there's some set backs to it too. I do NOT think it was meant to have contrasting grout used on it.
I used dark gray grout, because I didn't want to have to spend any considerable amounts of time in the future scrubbing and maintaining white grout on a floor surface. I thought the gray grout would also make the design "pop".
Unfortunately, I think these tiles were made with the hope that the consumer would use white grout. Many of the edges on the white tile pieces are chipped....which was really hard to notice until the grout was in PLACE. :(
You can see what I mean if you look around the edges of the white tiles in this pic of my floor.
I still love my floor and am happy with how it turned out. I think it looks "rustic.":)
